Tea

I sat today with a pile of mail.
I give to charities, it is my way of doing some small thing to make the world better.
It is part of my walk with the divine, and my outward expression of gratitude.
My heart was heavy today, as I looked thru some 15 odd requests from charities
for money.
It sits so hard in my center to throw them away,
I feel such grief at the faces of those in hunger, and ravaged by wars.
Sometimes, if I am lucky and they are mostly paper, The little one and I recycle them into seed papers to send to friends.
Have you ever done this? It’s fun, and it’s a good way to use up the junk ( or not junk) that comes via the post.
This is an easy explanation here, I just add the seeds before I screen.
So peanut and I were talking about one of the requests,
one that I hold very dear to my heart.
One that I know a great many wonderful Fellow bloggers contribute to:
Women for women.
Here at wordpress they have a wonderful blog, that you can read about what these courageous people are doing.
So the little one was trying to understand what the flyer was about, and asking me why it made me so sad.
Do you not just love the heart of innocence? So trying to explain to her about the women in Bosnia, and the atrocities they have suffered, and continue to go thru, was a hard thing to express to a 10 year old. She gets upset when it’s weeks before she gets ice cream, how do you relate all the suffering to one whom you spend your every waking hour trying to shield from the harshness of the world?
Yet in their infinite wisdom, children get it, on some level, they understand the wanting and the needing.
So those of you in the world with wisdom, what do you say when a child asks you
” but why do we have wars?”
From my heart ” I don’t honestly know, or understand.”
With all the sage wisdom of a child she says ” people should make tea, not war. Then they can sit and talk about the problems and find ways to fix them , like you and your friends do!”
( yeah, tears here, in profusion, and DO NOT BE thinking I have ever been successful at fixing anything in the world other than my car and the plumbing!!!)
I have not been able to throw lately, my illness has been prohibitive of it, so my etsy charity shop has been a bit empty, but I ran with the little ones idea, and drew first a tea cup, and then had the fabulous neighbor digitize it to make it an embroidery design, and I have put it on an apron and a tea-shirt! ( pun intended! LOL)
I know that most folks are struggling like we are, and that some days I wonder where the world is headed. I know there are more people in need than I can help, I may be a dreamer, but I know I am not the only one.
So the next time you sit with a cup of tea, or a mug of coffee, perhaps for just one moment you might think ” make tea/coffee not war” and if perhaps enough of us hold this sentiment close in our hearts, we can manifest a change, invoke the power of possibilities.cuppaIMG_0329

AS for the Apron so that is what the sewing machine had to be lugged in for LOL What a great Idea. Its looks great, they will sell like hotcakes, or are you not selling em?

  4. In my house it’s ‘don’t make coffee and you’ll HAVE a war’, but you already knew that.

She’s a precious one, that gal of yours.
She’s an inspiration in a whole lotta ways.

I haven’t discovered a good answer to the question she asked. I’m pretty convinced it’s because there is no good answer.

    (((((((((((( Sorrow ))))))))))))))

    I like the design, muchly.

War doesn’t determine who is right. War merely determines who is left.

  5. Mel~
Isn’t That the truth! Only who is left…
    sigh
    stoopid
    foolishness…
don’t get it, but then maybe not suppose to.

  8. OMG…OMG…OMG…this made ME cry!

And why am I NOT surprise that it came from the heart of one of your childern? Never doubt for one minute how truly successful you are at raising your children, Lady Sorrow. They are the beautiful reflection of your own soul!

And, hey… wouldn’t it be something if children RULED the world? I mean, they’re like “little buddha’s!!!”

Oh, and before I forget….I LOVE the graphic you came up with for the apron! I will definitely keep that sentiment in my hear, the next time I’m sipping my tea/coffee!

    Love ya, dear Lady!

    You ROCK!
    X

  9. Thank you Ron~!
you always bring such a ray of sunshine and a lightness to my heart!

  10. It is so hard not being able to give to all. To have to choose for whatever emotional reason one gets something and another doesn’t.
I love this idea, you are so talented
    xx

Byrd~ Thank you, and I know you understand , because with as many people as you try to help, you can’t always help them all, only those who do the work, and want to be helped. in your ever generous heart however, I know you want to make them all better!

  11. Some days I wish I could win the lottery so I could help all the people I’d like to help. I do give to some regular causes and have thought about sponsoring a child. I’m not sure if I trust the organization though.

Goldenferi~ LOL, not much a of a lottery person, I lose and most gambles. But making a difference in the life of a child, now thats something worth risking…

  12. Gulp, you must be incredibly proud. Ron says it all most well*!*

    BIM~
so good to see you rainbow bird! thanks for brining a bit of sunshine..
    (((HUGS)))

  13. G’Day,
Great post. Hey, when I was a kid I always thought they should lock up the world leaders in a padded room wearing sumo suits and let them fight it out and leave them there until they found a settlement. He he. I wish.
Give peanut a hug from me, she is a sweetie.

    Linda~
Consider it done.. and she does give wonderful hugs!

  14. Back again to add, My grandfather used to always have a pocket full of lollies and would hand them out to all the kids in the street. They all knew him and followed him around. Everyone called him Pop. He used to say he wanted to win the lottery because he could throw a big party for all the poor kids in town and fill them up with ice cream and cake and lollies. He he.

    Linda~
You know it sounds like your pop had a very generous heart! I think I now know where you get yours from! ( hugs)

  15. hello there, snickering one at my “menagerie”! ;) ….but perhaps it was to be taken lightly as this post is to be taken seriously, no? our small ones, the arrows we send out into the world are our greatest gift to heal it, or at least that is what I like to think since I had 3 and they have grown to be fabulous people, perhaps a bit self-centered at times but good hearts…otherwise I feel I have given so little…your peanut sounds like a chip off your block and you both are very blessed…I love your apron, it’s a wonderful and simple message, something I would never have thought of…I am always amazed at how some can come up with such meaningful ideas as you do ….my brain seems to spin out of control too easily and simply confound me! I have been looking forward to our little “chat”, reading you are still not feeling well…perhaps it is in the stars as I don’t either but alas, we are stuck in these bodies for now so must live with it, right? hmmm…it has been a rough week for me and my daughter told me something was in something but astrology always confuses me!!

blessings of health for you, wise one that you are…and for your little one too…may I put this blog on my blogroll or is it to be kept more secretive? I am not sure so will await your letting me know…xoxo

  16. oh Sorrow, I could just kiss your little ones cheeks.. she is a kindred soul.. we may be many years apart in age, but that is how I think.. that is why I must pretend and play make believe… and make tea for tea parties… my nan always said to share friendship over a cup of tea is the best thing and I believe her 100% !! maybe oneday, we can all get together and have a blog cup of tea so we can all be online together drinking and chatting!

  17. You are quite an eloquent, articulate woman. I deeply appreciate what you share here, and it reflects a great deal of how I try to live and share my own life with others.

    Thank you, Sorrow…:)

  18. Sorrow,
What’s up with all this not feeling so good? I do hope you get better soon.

I don’t have an answer for your little one. My guess is children have been asking that same question since time began. I wonder why the adults in the world don’t pay more attention.

    Love, love, love the apron.

  19. Hi..I am new to your blog, just recently being pointed here :)

    We likey.

    And I love the apron.

And I love W4W…they have been an inspiration of mine for years. I hope to work with them some day..and in the meantime support them in every way I can.

Thanks for spreading the word about them.

  20. Gillette,
Yes! they are wonderful! and I am so glad that so many people know about them and help support the tremendous things that they do all over the world.
    Thanks for the peeky!

  21. ((( Sorrow )))

The needs that are out there are overwhelming, aren’t they? I have to keep reminding myself of that Starfish poem, you know the one? :) We aren’t sent here to handle all of the woes of the world…just the ones that we “can”. If that makes sense. LOL

It’s so wonderful to connect with you again. xoxoxox

Peace and Love to you! (And prayers for your health…I’m not sure what’s happening with you, but whatever it is, may it go away completely so that you can get back to doing all of those things that you love so much!)

Grace~ thanks for the prayers, they have worked tremendously. I am on the mend ( finally) and am back connecting with my mud! so good to see you and that little love of yours!
