Worth a laugh

My son is 15, he is 170 lbs and 6′3″. He is a well mannered , mostly well behaved kid. He follows the house rules, and has had no disciplinary actions at school all year. Don’t get me wrong, he has moments, when he is a moody hormone ridden adolescent that make me want to pull my hair out, however for 90% of the time he is a great kid.
Today was teachers conferences, so he and I went to meet with his teachers as he has been failing Spanish all year.
Mr. Spanish teacher was a middle aged man on the portly side who was pleasant and helpful. Seems my bright baby boy does NONE of his home work. Homework is a third of his grade, and quizzes, are another third and are taken straight from the homework notebook …( can you see where this is going? ) and test make up the last 3rd. So junior gets A’s on the tests and F’s on everything else.
~groan~
So guess who gets to be the homework police? Joy ~ Rapture
Then we go meet ALL the other teachers…
History is a adorable 20 something brunette who looks eerily like his last girlfriend, he’s getting A’s in History.
Math is a Drop dead gorgeous 20-something brunette, he is getting B’s in Algebra.
English is a Barbie doll blonde , who might be 5 foot tall. She is really pretty and perky in that cheerleader kind of way. He’s getting an A in English.
SO…
Some one needs to explain to me HOW he is only screwing up with the portly spanish teacher? I mean really, Hormones should be frying his brain with the other three!? right? or am I missing something completely here?
I didn’t get to meet the science teacher as she has just left for Maternity leave, but with out a doubt she probably as beautiful as the other 3 I met.
We didn’t have gorgeous teachers when I was growing up, they were all matrons or really obese spinsters.
Color me confused…

Thanks MEL, it’s better to laugh with your friends than be laughed at by your kids…

Nothing like a little incentive to surpass our potential! I love your kid stories because they remind me to add a good dollop of humor to being a parent. This was a great post, Sorrow. Your (very tall) son sounds like a dream kid.

    Peace,
    Chantal

Tall one is a riot, he has his mom sense of fun, thats for sure! I just tortured him with Green Porno from Missharleys blog, ! Tears are still running down my face!

I want to be a kid with hormones again…

As someone who pretty consistently got A’s in classes I liked and F’s in classes that didn’t interest me OR based much of the grade on homework… I can honestly say that with or without the hormonal effect of teachers, I get your kiddo.

Hon, there’s a reason that I graduated high school with a 2.3 gpa despite being a national merit scholar and always scoring in the top 1 percent on any standardized test…

He’s bored… because he’s smart like his mother (and I would suspect father.)
Isn’t there a gifted & talented program around there? Not “more work, faster” but “more interesting work” - because that first one will bury him, the second will change everything.

    ((hug))
    geeksweetie~
NOPE, nothing like that…it’s farm country here, they don’t even have summer school.
yes, i am sure you can relate, it’s those moments though when you realize OMG I’m old! We watched Stardust and there is this scene where Michelle Pfieffer is nude,( back shot) and my kid goes “EWWWWW naked old chick!”
He called Michelle Pfieffer an OLD chick???!!! then At teachers conferences i realized i could have given birth to all of his teachers, maybe not with the same stunning genetics, but still…
    yikes!
I just thought i would rather be laughing with friends, then having the 15 year old laugh at me…
    ugh.

I didn’t have any mildly attractive teachers, let alone gorgeous ones, either. I totally missed out, it seems. Though based on the ratio of women to men teachers, looks like gorgeousness would have been wasted on me!

Looks like you need to find him a spanish tutor…at least you know what to look for! ;)

The only eye candy I had was my Biology teacher. Spent a lot of time in Lab for extra help. Yeah, I got an A. *giggles*
I think the Hot Spanish Tudor is the way to go. They don’t want a break from all those hormones and stiffies….

Oh this sounds familiar. My 15 year old doesn’t do his homework either. He has been labeled with various issues because of it, ADD *wrong, Autism*wrong. He is just bright and bored. He was put in a special education room this year for help. He will no longer go back as he has been harrassed bullied and labeled as a “retard.” He is going to be doing virtual school. I’m glad you were able to lay out a plan that will work for you son. Mine needs to focus on what he can do now instead of what they thought he couldn’t.

I’m rather late on this one - but I often skip pages when reading books–some sort of brain disorder, I imagine, anywho. . . The connection is obvious. At 15, who would you want to impress? We alwas do better when our intent is to impress. I wish all 15 year-old boys, (my son, Sam, is 15 too) had pretty, young teachers. It would life so much easier for me. Peace, Light and Love, CordieB.
